The role of the Strategic Sales Specialist is to:

  • Expand the sales of Ethicon products for the designated division.

  • Provide total account management perspective in support of divisional priorities, focusing specifically as the Ethicon sales lead for targeted Division institutions.

  • Increase sales and market share through the proper partnership and collaboration of multiple business stakeholders, including Strategic Account Management, Professional Education, and other business alliances, while also maintaining sales at current customer accounts in the division.

  • Partner with the local sales reps and Divisional Manager to identify critical business accounts and hospital systems that need additional support to defend or convert business.

  • Specialists will support the division through their clinical expertise, understanding of account management, and as an additional resource for critical institutions.

Additional job responsibilities include:

  • Candidate must have strong business planning skills.

  • Ability to work with Division Manager to target accounts and achieve results through a daily action plan, and be able to collaborate with other J&J associates (peers, marketing, Strategic Account Managers, etc.), external companies (distributors) and key opinion leaders.

  • Know and follow ESC policies & procedures & assure that direct reports know & follow ESC policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility. Accountable to understanding the divisional business plan and collaborating with the Division Sales Managers to understand business priorities and account targets.

  • Collaborate with enabling functions (Prof Ed, Strategic Account Management) to drive the targeted strategy within the region.

  • Understand and demonstrate proper and detailed surgical use of our products to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.

  • Ability to handle customer product questions and objections consistent with sales training methodology and execute the selling cycle in a manner that is concise, professional, ethical and persuasive and which leads the customer to action.

  • Focused on managing and executing against priority account conversions and competitive situations, while maintaining base business.

  • Supports new product launches.

Qualifications

An undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in an applicable field is required.

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Operating room / medical device sales experience preferred.

  • The ability to work in a lab or operating room environment is required.

  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued in the United States.

  • The ability to travel related to this role is required

  • Candidates with documented successful sales performance (high growth, results vs. plan), the ability to target accounts and achieve results through a daily action plan and the ability to collaborate with other J&J associates (peers, marketing, Strategic Account Managers), external companies (distributor reps) and KOLs are preferred.

  • Self-starters with strong time management and planning skills are also preferred.

  • Hospital-based pharmaceutical or medical device experience as well as experience in product sales to a highly educated/high profile customer base is strongly preferred.
