The ideal candidate will conduct research in theoretical computer science that may include but is not limited to our current strengths, in areas such as deep learning, complexity, optimization, logic in computer science, learning, algorithms for massive data sets, database principles, game theory, information retrieval, and computational finance. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree, and have a proven record of publications in theoretical computer science and also possibly in related fields such as mathematics, theoretical aspects of electrical engineering, and statistics. The candidate must have the ability to make professional connections and collaborate with system builders in application areas, such as machine learning, information management, metagenomics, image processing, or natural language processing. Such collaborations are a substantial and vital part of the position.
