What You'll Do

Roles and Responsibilities: Chairman & CEO Executive Support

  • You will complete a vast range of administrative tasks for the Chairman and CEO including running an active and complex calendar; long-term calendar planning; completing expense reports; composing and preparing confidential correspondence; coordinating complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings.

  • You will communicate directly, and on behalf of the Chairman and CEO, with Board members, members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Senior Leadership as well as customers and partners on matters related to day-to-day business.

  • You will research, prioritize, and follow up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Chairman and CEO including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. This includes determining the appropriate course of action, referral, or response.

  • You will provide a bridge for smooth communications between the Chairman and CEO’s office and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with the Senior Management team.

  • You will work closely and effectively with the Chairman and CEO to keep him well-informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities and gather input as needed along with appropriate and swift follow up. You will act as a "barometer," having a sense of the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the Chairman and CEO updated.

  • You will possess a strong business sense and understanding of Chairman and CEO’s business priorities.

  • You will successfully complete critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting acknowledgment letters, personal correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the Chairman and CEO’s ability to effectively lead the company.

  • You will prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously and proactively; and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with tight deadline pressures.

  • You will assist in coordinating weekly meetings for the Executive Leadership Team and as well as offsite meetings.

  • You will demonstrate strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

  • You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and can easily build relationships with partners, including staff, board members, and external stakeholders.

  • You take a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

  • You are a highly resourceful team-player who is also very effective independently

  • You handle confidential information with discretion, are adaptable to various challenging demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response time.

Leadership & Administrative Community:

  • Lead and act as a mentor to the Executive Administrative team supporting the Executive Leadership Team and participate in a cross-functional EA network.

  • Meet with regional functional Administrative partners to discuss share best practices and align with key priorities.

  • Meet with Administrative HR recruiting contact to discuss upcoming and pending opportunities.

Who You'll Work With

The Senior Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO corresponds directly with others who are critical to the company's success, including customers, partners, CEO Communications team and Cisco’s Board of Directors. You are often the first point of contact for all internal requests from the Executive Leadership team as well as the entire Cisco organization.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • 8+ years’ experience in the administrative environment. A minimum of 4 years’ experience supporting at the SVP level. Prior CEO support experience preferred.

  • Preferred: BA/BS or equivalent experience; past work experience in the high-tech industry

  • Experience working with public company board of directors and experience with public company reporting cycles (earnings, SEC filings, etc.)

  • Thorough knowledge of Windows desktop computer applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experienced in meeting planning

  • Ability to navigate web and email at a high competency

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with Executive/Senior staff and clients

  • Works in an organized and focused manner. Detail-oriented.

  • Daily presence in the San Jose Cisco office.
