Overview

Cisco’s Systems Engineering group is responsible for the physical design, end to end verification, delivery and maintenance of next generation digital video systems and IP video solutions. As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of a highly collaborative cross-site team contributing to all phases of the systems development life cycle from pre-sales to deployment. This role has the potential to work across multiple currently deployed video platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for pre-sales engagements

  • Assist with the development of formal RFI and RFQ proposals

  • Build and deliver proof-of-concept video technology demonstrations

  • Assist in the design technical solutions to meet business objectives and requirements

  • Analyze individual components to determine suitability for system deployments

  • Integrate Cisco video and content delivery solutions with 3rd party systems

  • Complete system performance analysis and capacity planning

  • Determine optimal system configurations for lab and field releases

  • Actively work with development and support teams to troubleshoot system issues

  • Create detailed system design and installation documentation for Cisco products

  • Take part in the installation and validation of end to end systems at customer sites

Education & Skills Required

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies in a challenging and fast-paced work environment

  • Strong AWS cloud administration and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with automation technologies like Ansible and Salt an asset

  • In-Depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, configuration, and monitoring

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex IP video and digital cable system issues

  • Exceptional system debugging and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to manage day to day tasks with minimal direct supervision

  • UNIX system administration experience would be an asset

  • Software development experience would be an asset

  • Database system administration experience would be an asset
