If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Accountemps for you to check out at an organization in the Automotive industry. In the role of Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This San Jose, California based firm has a long term temporary-to-fulltime position available, and offers a fast paced environment where effort is rewarded.
What you get to do every day
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
The ideal Staff Accountant will have strong knowledge in the General Ledger reconciliations, debits/credits, ability to work independently, and ability to research and resolve discrepancies. Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in accounting, or related field
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
