Sutter Health Pharmacy Technician - Oncology/Infusion Center - Santa Cruz (Per Diem) in Santa Cruz, California


Under general supervision, this position functions to provide timely admixture services of chemotherapeutic and biotherapeutic agents, other intravenous medications and IV admixtures. Principal accountabilities include:

  • Prepares IV solutions and medications including chemotherapy and biotherapy for outpatients in the Infusion Center following ASCO/ONS Chemotherapy Safety Standards and Chemotherapy Biotherapy preparation policies and procedures, and guidelines for sterile compounding according to written orders and under close supervision of a Pharmacist, MD/RN.

  • Manages pharmaceutical inventory (to include maintaining adequate supply and cost saving inventory control) for the department including ordering and requisitioning from various sources.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • State Registered Pharmacy Technician certification required

  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience with background in preparation of IV admixture including chemotherapy Knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for regular contact with employees; requires tact.

  • Math aptitude with ability to calculate the amount of drug needed to prepare admixture doses as well as to calculate additive volumes

  • Basic computer skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement and to enter information into electronic health records.

  • Must be willing to travel to other PAMF locations as needed.
